Inspired Giving
Rochelle and Herb Bass have given to the Jewish Community Foundation for 50 years. Recently, they arranged a legacy gift as an expression of the love they feel for the Jewish community and an appreciation of the significant role the Federation has played in their lives.
Rochelle first started making gifts to the Jewish Community Foundation in her twenties to receive the Jewish Exponent. Around the same time, Herb became more interested in the Federation through colleagues at his law firm and was also involved in the Jewish community through his membership in the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
“We’ve made many lifelong friends who have been quite involved with the Jewish Community Foundation, and they’ve inspired us to keep giving and think of the future generations,” says Rochelle.
When it came time to make their own estate plans, they were prepared to take the next step in giving.
“Setting up a gift through a will was relatively easy,” says Rochelle. “The Federation was helpful through the process.”
Their bequest will continue their giving to the Federation’s annual campaign in perpetuity. By creating their legacy gift, the Basses know that the Jewish Community Foundation will help future generations of Jews in need and will also touch upon all the areas they care about, including food insecurity, the elderly, and combating antisemitism.
“We are happy to know that our gift can make a difference in the Jewish community in the future. We feel really good about that,” says Herb.
